Dear Employer

My name is Derek Nicholls and i am eagerly seeking a career change. I am 29 years old and have been employed by the Royal Navy in the rank of Petty Officer for the past seven and a half years. I am currently based in the Portsmouth area of the UK. My job title is Weapon Engineer Artificer, which is essentially an electrical engineer. I have a foundation degree in electronics and electrical engineering from Portsmouth University, as well as qualifications in sea survival and fire fighting. I have a keen interest in anything electronic and have experience in dealing with LANs and most any hardware and software based PC issues. My technical training from the Navy has been consolidated with 3 years of experience working on fully operational warships, maintaining equipment and rapidly dealing with equipment failure to maintain the ship's operational capability. I have not only been in charge of individual sections(Command Systems and Radar) where i answered directly to the Command but i have also been a divisional officer in charge of the welfare of up to 12 ratings. I feel i have outgrown the RN now and i am looking for a new challenge where i can meet new people and expand my knowledge. I feel i would be well suited for the yacht industry as i am used to dealing with high pressure sections where equipment availability and minimal downtime is paramount.
